What are the hurdles to successfully designing and constructing such a supply? It seems that the weight savings would be substantial. Is the RFI problem the only barrier?

Pass through antenna selection signals to detect antenna changes and trigger retuning. For instance, i have up to 48 (6 bands * 8 control lines) relay control lines from my antenna selection boxes. No front panel operation. Completely controlled from computer via ethernet, wireless, usb, etc. Including fault monitoring, power on/off, tuning, etc.
Integrated receive filters, build in the model 419 filters for tx and rx, or a better rx only filter like the w3lpl design.
Honest-to-God SO2R capability where two separate tuned inputs are switched to their own tuned outputs to share the RF deck across two different transceivers on two different bands. Share the expensive tube, power supply, and protection circuit while effectively doubling the input and output tuning circuit
